Anthony Dominic Stagliano

Merchantville - of Merchantville, NJ lost his battle with Lewy Body Dementia on April 27, 2018 at the age of 84. Tony was a caring & loving husband, son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin. Teacher, coach & friend.

He proudly graduated from Northeast High School (8th & Lehigh, Philadelphia). He served in the Army, graduated from Westchester University in 1960. During these years he played football, pole vaulted, boxed, & was a swimmer. From 1963-1990 he was a health & physical education teacher at Brainerd Jr. High School (now Carusi Middle) in Cherry Hill. He played semi-pro football for Magnolia-Bridesburg, worked for the Phila. Dept. of Recreation, was Student Activities Director at Brainerd, was director and advisor for Carusi News, served as a volunteer in a few capacities for the town of Merchantville, worked tirelessly as a volunteer for Northeast High School's Alumni Association both as president of the Alumni Association and as Northeaster of the Year 1991, served on the steering committee of The Compassionate Friends of Camden County, & managed Erlton Swim Club. He also coached wrestling & track at Brainerd & Freshman Football at Cherry Hill High School West.

Tony is predeceased by his parents, Anthony & Mary Stagliano (nee Guzzi); his son, Christian Stagliano; his step-son, Tom Rounds; his brother, Sam Stagliano & his wife Natalie; & his sister, Rose Huntzberry.

He is survived by his loving wife, Roberta (Bobbi) Stagliano (nee Mutschler); his caring sons, Mark Stagliano (Doreen) & Michael Stagliano (Gwen); his special grandchildren, Kyle Rounds, Sydney Rounds, Erica Stagliano, & Nicholas Stagliano; his sister & brother-in-law, Nanci & Jim Redecker; his brother & sister-in-law, Court & Leang-li Mutschler; nephews, Bucky Huntzberry, Ken Stagliano, Gregory Stagliano (Brigid), Jamie Redecker (Misha), Rusty Redecker (Ling), & Randy Redecker (Alex); his former wife, Loretta Burrows; & many loving family members, friends & former students.

Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Thursday, May 3, 2018, 9-11 am at Trinity United Methodist Church, 36 West Maple Ave., Merchantville, NJ 08109 & celebration of life service beginning at 11 am.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Northeast High School Alumni Association, 1601 Cottman Ave., Philadelphia, PA 1911. Please note "In memory of Tony Stagliano" in the memo.

I can't imagine your pain, Bobbi. I will always remember Tony from when I first met him; handsome, classy, charming and friendly. Now he's with "the boys" missing you.
