Not sure what to say?

I still miss you all the time. This year, I´m getting sent to middle school to teach 6th and 8th graders who are reading at a 2nd and 3rd grade level! I wish I could ask you for your advice. Kathie is a peach and I look forward to her Christmas cards every year. I miss you and I treasure your memory.

To put it bluntly, A.T. Sutton was the best teacher I ever had. He was also one of the biggest guiding forces of my life. My first real mentor, he led me to my favorite writers (James Joyce, Gerard Hopkins) and helped me to hone my own skills as a writer. When I became a high-school British Lit. instructor here in Ann Arbor (which I did for 15 years) he was my role-model. Like Sutton, I wanted to challenge my students with a rigourous reading list, engage them in thoughtful discussion, and...

I was saddened to hear of Mr. Sutton's passing when my brother recently shared the news. Mr. Sutton's Shakespeare class was the best! He taught with so much enthusiasm and love for the profession. He will be missed.

I am so sorry to hear of Mr. Sutton's passing. I'll never forget having Humanities class with him. He was such a fascinating (and hilarious!) person to be around, and an inspiring teacher and friend.

Kathie, you and your family are in my thoughts.

My favorite teacher at Lumen Christi. He was always there for you when you needed him.

"Nothing conquers except truth and the victory of truth is love" (Victoria veritatis est caritas). Thank you for making a difference.

Mr. Sutton was a master teacher. I can still hear him reading, "The Bells" by Edgar Allen Poe. He made it come alive and I could hear each type of bell he was describing. He taught me to love poetry, how to write an essay, how to analyze, how to appreciate literature and how to believe in myself. I loved his intellect, humor and his passion. His memory will live in my heart forever.

Tony, you were such a bright light.

Thank you Mr Sutton For everything
