Anthony “Tony” Lee Root


 


Tony Root passed away on September 14th, 2021 with his loved ones surrounding him at the hospital. He was 57 years old.


 


Tony was born on October 4th, 1963 to his father Kenneth Root and mother Sally Root in Indianapolis, IN. He is survived by his beloved son and daughter, Tony Lee Root ll and Heather Lee Root, soon to be daughter-in-law Ilse Miranda, his mother Sally, his nephew David Root and wife Cat and kids Jamie and Kenley, his brother Kenneth Root and wife Debbie, his sister Patti Baker and husband David, his nieces Shana and Kelly Noe, nephew Chantz McPeek, and and his Dutch shepherd Odin, who is a good boy.  Tony was preceded in death by his father Ken and sister Kay Wilson.


 


Tony worked for his father Ken’s construction company, Steel Dynamics, and most recently Eli Lilly & Co for the past 20 years. He was also a huge fan of the Miami dolphins, rock music, good bourbon, Harley-Davidson, and spending days at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway with friends and family. His infectious laugh and smile will be missed by everyone that knew him.

Sorry for your loss my heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family. I'm met Tony through Lilly classifieds about 13 years ago he bought 500 tickets from me every year. We developed a friendship over those years and I will truly miss seeing him in May, rest in peace Tony.

I don't think many days went by that we didn't talk or text. It still seems like a some crazy prank you are pulling over on me! Your devotion to your job and to your dog were unmatched! Rest easy knowing I will take care of him until he leaves to join you! The girls, Odin and I miss you very much! You will always be family to us and to my kids!

Tony, you were such a funny and sweet guy. Joe and I will miss running into you at Walmart in the outdoor section. So much fun to see you there, talk, laugh and just enjoy seeing you. You will be missed by all that ever knew you and loved you.
