Not sure what to say?

I pulled out the program from the service Tony's wife held for him in their backyard. It has been five (5) years since his passing, and the depth of his character still inspires me. Tony was strong. Unique. A hero in big and little ways. I am every grateful that our paths crossed.

Despite the years that have passed by since the passing of the incredible artist Prof. Tony Velez, the sense of loss is always present. I miss Tony's vibrant energy, creative work and vision as well as his unwavering commitment to social justice. I pray for his eternal rest and peace for his beloved family and friends. RIP!

Tony, I will miss you dearly. You were a good friend. My prayers and deepest condolences to your family. You will be missed.

So sorry to hear about this. Tony and I were colleagues at Kean, and we worked together on a project documenting Latinos in Perth Amboy. "He goes forth, shining"; " What is remembered, lives."
