Anthony E. Vitolo

Anthony E. Vitolo, 80, beloved husband of Joan Crowley Vitolo, of Jones Hill Rd., West Haven passed away February 18, 2010 after a brief illness. He was born in Hamden June 13, 1929 a son of the late Ciro and Antoinette Femmino Vitolo and was employed as a baker at Wolfe's Bakery for 35 years, Waldbaums in North Haven for 8 years, United Elastic Co. in 1991 for 10 years. Anthony was a volunteer at the St. Paul Soup Kitchen, Emmanuel Soup Kitchen Meal Volunteer, and the ACTION Steering Committee. He was a #1 NY Yankee baseball fan. In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Kathleen (Paul) Spencer of Bangor, ME, Susan Griffin of Milford, and Arthur Sagnella of Branford, nephews, Michael (Linda) Gargano of Old Saybrook, Louis Vitolo of Meriden, a niece Anne Marino of Meriden, Antionette Teodosio, Cocoa Fl, Terry Mendes, Wallingford and Patty Vitolo, West Haven. He is also survived by a great niece Gera (Richard) Kuskowski and their children Brenna and Bailey, and a great nephew Michael (Julie) Gargano III and their children Michael and Justin all of Old Saybrook. He was predeceased by his sisters, Sophie and Anna Vitolo, Rose Gargano, and Sylvia Sagnella, and his brothers, John, Joseph, Vincent and Louis Vitolo. Funeral from BEECHER & BENNETT-TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME, 410 Campbell Ave., West Haven, Monday morning Feb. 22, at 10:30. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Victory Church, 600 Jones Hill Rd., West Haven, at 11 a.m. Friends may visit with his family Monday morning from 9-10:30. Interment in Oak Grove Cemetery will be private.
