Mrs. Aratha Moye, age 79 of 404 Hunters Creek Drive, Goldsboro died Saturday morning at Brian Center.
Funeral services will be held Friday at Greater Guiding Star United Holy Church, 1114 S. Slocumb St., Goldsboro at noon. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park North, Old Grantham Road, Goldsboro. Public visitation will be held Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m.
Evangelist Moye is survived by her daughter, Brenda Hamilton, a son, Joseph Moye, Jr.; brother, Ernest (Sheila) Hamilton; brother-in-law, Leander Mitchell; granchildren: Venita D. (Zino) Mitchell, Conswello Darden, Joey (Royale) Moye, III and Cambric Moye, five great-grand hildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
I was sadden to learn of the transitioning of Aratha. She was an inspiration to me as a young girl growing up in Goldsboro. She was beautiful both inside and outside, and spoke kind words of encouragement. She was a dear friend to my mother, Mrs. Arie Whitley, and to our family. May our God give the family comfort and peace knowing that her love for God was true.

Mrs. Moye was a wonderful person to work with at O'berry Center. While I was there, she taught me many lessons that no textbook or class could prepare me for as a teacher working with students with disabilities. She will be greatly missed!!
