I had a fortunate, relatively recent opportunity to visit for some length Archbishop Emeritus Daniel Cardinal Buechlein, O.S.B., in the Archabbey infirmary. I include the title because it, as his book, reflects the footprints and path of his concern, interventions, passion, and roles to maintain and lead The Church in a modern world.

As a mentor and example, I sought to maintain contact through the course of the 55 years from first acquaintance to the present....
