Arch Miller was my brother-in-law. I was just sixteen when he married my sister Jamie. But that day and every day since, I was struck by how warm and welcoming he was to his new and nerdy brother-in-law.
In later years, he took me to visit the workshop of his good friend Wendell Castle, who had already become famous as an American furniture artist. I found his work fascinating and, like Arch, he quickly put me at ease.
