Archie William Jackson
Archie William Jackson, 60, of Esmont, Virginia, departed this life peacefully on Tuesday, May 4, 2010, surrounded by his family at University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, Virginia.
He was born on June 9, 1949, in Washington, D.C., to Irene Chambers Jackson and the late John Archie Jackson.
He was a baptized member of New Hope Baptist Church. Archie served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was employed by National Optronics for many years, and most recently at Advance Auto until his health no longer permitted. Though quiet in nature, Archie was truly a devoted family man who loved to laugh and have a good time with family and friends. He enjoyed all sports but was a die-hard Redskin fan. Archie loved life and believed in living it to the fullest.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Lafayette Jackson; mother-in-law, Edith Anderson; and father-in-law, Coolidge Anderson.
He leaves to cherish his memory a devoted wife, Theresa A. Jackson; one daughter, Kimberly Jackson of Laurel, Maryland; three sons, Kelvin and his wife, Destiny, of Fort Campbell, Kentucky, Brian and his wife, Tania, of Lynchburg, Virginia, and Archie Jackson Jr. and his wife, Kea, of Charlottesville; his mother, Irene Jackson of Esmont; six grandchildren, Deshante, Kristian, Devante, Tyra, Craig, and Kharee; four sisters, Jacqueline Elcox of Esmont, Wanda Jones and her husband, Steve, and Portia Jackson of Charlottesville, and Jrene Greene of Richmond, Virginia; five brothers, Larry and his wife, Angeline, and Antonio of Esmont, Ulysses and his wife, Henrietta, of Charlottesville, Clarence and his wife, Deana, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, and Latravern and his wife, Renee, of Garden City, New York; one brother-in-law, Orlando Anderson of Charlottesville; five aunts, two uncles, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday, May 10, 2010, at New Hope Baptist Church in Esmont.
A graveside service with military honors will follow at the church cemetery. The viewing will be one hour prior to the service.
Thacker Brothers Funeral Home in Scottsville is handling the arrangements.
