Lorne and Sons Funeral Home - Delray Beach Obituary

Ariana Victoria Jacobus died April 3, 2015 in Delray Beach, Florida by taking her own life. She struggled valiantly for most of it with the diseases of Bipolar disorder and addiction.

Ariana was born December 15, 1985 in Dallas, TX to Lacy Jacobus and Mark Stumpf, and attended Coppell High School and Trinity University. She was a charismatic, brilliant light, who stirred the feelings of every person she met. A writer and a poet, she delighted in language, words, and rhythms, and she loved working at the Achievement Centers for Children and Families of Delray Beach as a grant writer. She was also a long time student of A Course In Miracles.

She is survived by her wife Katharina von Heydekampf; daughter Evelyn Hertenstein and her father David Hertenstein; parents Lacy Jacobus and Robert Ficklen; brother Jack Ficklen, sister Tara Ficklen, grandmother Catherine Jacobus; dozens of loving aunts, uncles, cousins; and a multitude of friends of Bill.
A private memorial service will be held on April 25th in Delray Beach. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Achievement Centers for Children and Families of Delray Beach online at www.achievementcentersfl.org or 561-276-0520.

As a tribute to Ariana, her family hopes that being open about her suicide may help others to cope with similar losses.

I never meet your loved one, but I know her disease. It took my own sister thirteen years ago. God bless you in dealing with the pain of losing such a brilliant person.

I knew Ariana briefly, but she was such a wonderful, bright spirit. I am so sorry, but I am glad she is now at peace.

This is a beautiful obit.
Thank you for sharing this memory.
