Great memories survive to enrich us. RIP, Arlie.

Arlie and I were IU grad school roommates for a year around 1965. If we hadn't an ingredient as he cooked dinner, he improvised in surprising ways. He ate dinner watching Huntley and Brinckley news, plate on his lap, phone to his ear, talking to Diane, always upbeat and smiling.
