Mrs. Arlean Reynolds McLaughlin of 415 Round Top Ave., Petersburg, Va., departed this life on Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2010, at Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg, Va.

She was born July 10, 1934, to the late Lillian Reynolds and Bradley Reynolds Sr. of Petersburg, Va. She received her education from the Petersburg Public School System. She was a retiree of Virginia State University. Prior to this employment, she was employed by Petersburg School Board.

Arlean is preceded in death by one brother, Bradley Reynolds Jr. and one sister, Delores Pryor.

Arlean was married to the late Roosevelt McLaughlin and from this union they were blessed with six children, Aretha McLaughlin, Floyd McLaughlin (Donna), Alvin McLaughlin, Diana Thomas (Frederick), LaShawn Green, Arlene Thigpen (Rodney) all of Petersburg, Va. From her six children she was also blessed with 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Mrs. McLaughlin has one sister, Patricia Drew (Willie) of Petersburg, Va. She has three sisters-in-law, Lorraine Green, Winnie Parham (Frank) and Geraldine McLaughlin, all of Petersburg, Va. She will also leave behind two goddaughters, Bonita Dewitt of Chesterfield, Va., and Verronica Hill of Petersburg, Va.; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; among the cousins. two devoted, Mary Taylor and Crystal Hines, both of Petersburg, Va. She was a very loved lady and a pleasure to have in our lives. She had two devoted friends, Mertine Roane of Petersburg, Va., and George McLaughlin. Special recognition to the Round Top Avenue family and for the many individuals she knew too numerous to list.

Funeral service for Mrs. Arlean R. McLaughlin will be held 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 30, 2010, at Mount Olivet Baptist Church, 800 Augusta Ave., Petersburg, Va., the Rev. Dr. Wesley K. McLaughlin, pastor, officiating. Interment to follow at Wilkerson Memorial Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at 415 Roundtop Ave., Petersburg, Va.
