Not sure what to say?

So sad to hear of Miss Karnatz's passing. 40 years later, I tell my nieces & nephews about my 1st grade teacher all the time. She was the best!!! Not only did she help me gain a love for learning & a wonderful confidence in myself to accomplish anything I put my mind to, but she still makes me smile when I think of how shocked we kids were when she'd show up with different colored hair (wigs) fairly frequently & the time she was so frustrated about something that she shut herself in the...

I remember Arlene from my very early years at Bay Village City Schools. Even though I was not at the same school as her, I do remember her sense of humor, wit and what a very kind person she was. I consider it an honor to have known her and am very sorry to hear of her passing. God Bless You Arlene.

I met Arlene at Normandy elementary in my very first year of teaching. What a wonderful wit, with a lust for life that was obvious. Hundreds of adults walking the planet benefited from her humor, empathy, and exceptional teaching. THAT'S a legacy! Rest well, Arlene. -Brad Behrendt

She was an impactful educator, to say the least. I still have fond memories of her second grade class some 25 years later. I can only imagine the positive impact she has had on generations of individuals within the Bay School system but I can certainly speak to mine; a wonderful legacy for an incredible woman.

Peace be with you

Arlene was the chairman of our antique group in College Club West. She was a wonderful leader and we always had so much fun together. I will miss her. It was a treat to be in her lovely home for our luncheons. My deepest sympathy to her sister and niece of whom she often spoke.

Arlene was the best friend anyone could have. She was always there for me when I needed her most. I will always treasure the times we spent together. We especially bonded over our mutual love for animals. She will forever live in my heart.

Arlene was a dear friend and co-worker. Both my husband and I will miss her but she will always be in our thoughts as will be her entire family of whom she spoke of so fondly!!
