Carpenter Memorial Chapel - North Platte Obituary

Arlene (McKain) Richardson, 96, of North Platte, NE passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at Linden Court.


She was born in Gothenburg, NE on August 17, 1928 the daughter of Albert and Nettie (Erskine) McKain.  When she was a baby the family moved to a farm near North Platte, NE.  She spent all her younger years helping her father on the farm as her brothers were all in the military. She completed her schooling and graduated in 1946.  During those years she met Rex Richardson, and they were married in 1946.  She and Rex lived on the O’Brien Ranch North of Sutherland until 1953 when they moved to North Platte.


She is survived by her children, Tom (Paula) Richardson, Ron (Nancy) Richardson both of North Platte, Christina Fisher of Cheyenne, WY, and Michael Richardson of North Platte; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren; sister, Ruth Pokorny of Bellevue, NE; and several nieces and nephews. 


She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rex; 2 brothers; and a grandson.


Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at North Platte Cemetery with Pastor Emily McCreery officiating. Visitation with the family receiving friends will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 16th at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which has been entrusted with the arrangements.


Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to First Presbyterian Church in North Platte.
