Arlene R. Spencer

I'm Tina Gottesman-Alves and Arlene Spencer was my fifth grade teacher at Hoffman Elementary School in Elmira around 1958-9. I think it was her first year there. I absolutely adored her. She was so much fun! Less formal than the other teachers and she had such a great sense of humor. I remember laughing a lot and loving that year. I also remember the science experiment with burned sugar that stank up the entire floor of the school! Arlene always made me think of Mary Martin as Peter...
