Not sure what to say?

I have just now learned of Prof. Meyer's passing. My sincere condolences to his family and friends. I took several classes with him while in Christ College and his character and his teaching had a profound effect on me. Visiting him after I graduated was a special treat. What a gentle, wise, kind, and wry teacher and mentor he was. I remember well so many lessons he taught me. Rest in peace, Prof. Meyer.

Our thoughts are with you at this sad time. We have pleasant memories of Arlin and, you Sharon, as a result of our interactions while "deaning" at VU. Arlin, always caring and positive, and Sharon cordial to us especially early on as newcomers. Shortly after we arrived in Valparaiso, Arlin invited Stu to lunch to help him get started. Take care.

My deepest sympathies to Sharon and to all of Arlin's family. Arlin created a very special connection with all of the students he mentored in the Cambridge overseas study program, which I attended in 1974. His love of British literature and of history was truly infectious. Traveling many times through the English countryside on a bus, with Arlin musing about the history and literature of the area, was such a gift to all of his students. Arlin and Sharon were such gracious hosts to us all,...

Our prayers for God's hand of comfort and peace during this time. We also praise God for Dr Meyer's sparkling character and generous heart that he shared with us during our years in Christ College.

Our sympathy to the family during this difficult time. Arlin made many good memories with us. May he rest in peace.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time. I hope that the promise in 1 Thessalonians 4:14 can bring comfort. Knowing that there is a hope for our love ones lost in death can be reassuring.

Largely as a result of Arlin's influence during my overswas study semester at Cambridge, for which he was the director, I added an English major, which proved to be much more significant in my life than my other major. I suspect I was not alone in this. His devotion to and passion for teaching was infectious. I regarded him as a friend, as well as the best teacher I ever encountered. I, and many others who spent an overseas semester with him, turned up at his house during homecoming...
