Not sure what to say?

I regret not finding out about Spud's passing until recently...it's July '25 as I write this. I had a car lot further north on Craycroft from Spud's. I got to know him and Dick Johnson quite well over the years. I left the business in the mid 80's, but would keep up on the "Craycroft gossip" thru the years, usually by all the old car guys like me who were in the car business that met at Mike Mundy's annual Super Bowl Parties. I was always in awe of Spud....and always wondered how he was able...

I'm so sorry for everyone in your family Spud was a great man like a father to me! I worked for him and Dick Johnson for years! I learned all my mechanical abilities from Spud and he was my father figure growing up! I loved him so much and my condolences go out to you all in Spuds family !

Sure do miss you Spud... much love, Susie

I am so sorry that I missed the obituary! Spud was a neighbor for many years in Desert Palms Park. His car dealership was next to my late husband's on Craycroft. My husband, Ralph Bishop, died in 2010, and we would see Spud at Thirsty's after working hours. He was a good friend !

Condolences to family and friends. I met Spud in 2021. I purchased a 1950 Buick from him. It was a pleasure to meet and talk to him. Spud was a true hero WW2 veteran. Hey Spud I´m doing as you said I drove the car every week. I talked to Spud often after I bought the Buick. Rest in Peace. I´ll never forget meeting such a legend. Jeff Shinn San Diego CA

Please note there is a typo in the Memorial Events listing. The proper date for the memorial is March 21st at 10 am. I'll talk to the paper to get the listing corrected.

My wife Judy, and I worked most of his car auctions as ring persons and later I worked as auctioneer assistant. I worked with his son, Armand at the National Radio Astronomy observatory in 1974.

I met Spud in 1974 when I came to Tucson. Was a friend , mentor and in common old car collector. He will be missed. RIP Spud. He's wheelin' and dealin' in Heaven already.

May You rest in peace
