MIDLAND Armando Sanchez, 58, of Midland, Texas passed away December 22, 2020. Armando was born in Ballinger, Texas on August 17, 1962, to Frank and Maria Sanchez. Armando was the youngest of five children. Raised in San Angelo, Armando was a natural on the football and baseball field. He met the love of his life, Anna, while attending Edison Jr. High. After graduating from Lake View High School, he followed in the footsteps of his father and older brother, and joined the military, serving in the Army for 13 years.
Armando married Anna on July 24, 1982. They had two children, Gavon and Devin. The family moved to Midland in 1990, where Armando spent the next three decades in the car business. A social butterfly, Armando never met a stranger. When he was not working, he dedicated his life to coaching little league baseball. His players became his adopted sons whom he continued to coach throughout life. Armando was a devout Catholic, and dedicated his life to God and his Catholic faith.
He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. He taught RCIA and CCD. He was also an ACTS brother, and worked countless retreats. There are many who found God by way of Armando. He entered into the Diaconate formation in 2017 and was excited to serve his God in that way. This past summer, Armando left the car business and set on a new venture: Catholic radio as the general manager of Guadalupe Radio Network, another testament to his faith and his love for God.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Anna, his son Gavon of Midland, his daughter Devin of Odessa, the 3 lights of his life, his grandkids: Mia, Kolten and Evie, his parents Frank and Maria, his older brothers Edward (Elvia) and Danny (Herlinda), and older sister Teresa (Marion) all of San Angelo, numerous nephews and nieces, and many "adopted" sons and daughters from church and from his baseball teams.
