Arnold L. Proctor, age 78, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, October 29, 2016 at McCrite Nursing Home in Topeka. Arnold was born April 1, 1938 in Soldier, Kansas the son of Otis and Lorena Carey Proctor. Arnold graduated from Havensville High School in 1956. He served in the Kansas Army National Guard. He married Sharon Getty June 25, 1967 in Topeka. Arnold worked in management at Ed Marling's Furniture in Topeka for over 40 years, retiring in 2000. Arnold was a longtime member of the Kansas Avenue United Methodist Church where he served as Sunday school teacher, PPR and Finance Committee.
Arnold is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sharon Proctor; two sons, David (Rebecca) and Marc (Karen) Proctor, all of Shawnee, Kansas; a sister, Janice (Ron) Lindsey of Columbus, KS; a brother-in-law, Steven Getty of Topeka; four grandchildren, Lauren, Ashton, Emily and Megan and two nieces, Janet Lindsey and LaDell Turley.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home. He will lie in state Tuesday from noon – 8:00 p.m. with visitation from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home. Interment will be at the Penwell Gable Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Kansas Avenue United Methodist Church or the Topeka Rescue Mission and left in care of the Davidson Funeral Home. davidsonfuneral.com.

SHARON,DAVID AND MARK, DJ CALLED ME 1ST THING THIS MORNING HE HAD READ IN THE PAPER OF ARNOLDS PASSING.DJ SAID HE REMEMBERS GOING OVER AND ARNOLD WOULD BE IN SHORTS AND BLACK SOCKS,ARNOLD WOULD PAY DJ FOR MOWING.WE WERE NEIGHBORS FOR ELEVENS YEARS AND THEY WERE WONDERFUL YEARS.I AM SURE DOUG IS SHOWING ARNOLD ALL THE ROPES IN HEAVEN~LOVE DJ,SCOTT AND DEB WELLS
