Not sure what to say?

Art was our neighbor for around 5 years in Ann Arbor, around the time he retired and went into his garage to start building things. It was nearly pure joy to see him enjoying his work, chuckling to himself often, and always ready to help anyone. He was really a super great human :)

He was quite a guy!

I miss his presence in the world. He meant a great deal to me. I loved his humor and always felt a real kinship.

Single Memorial Tree

To all Art´s loving family, Please accept our heartfelt and most sincere condolences and sympathy. We, too, are saddened by Art´s passing. He was an exceptional person and truly decent human being, a good friend with a wonderful sense of humor, an easy person to love and care about. Paul and Betty Green

Art was took great pride in being one of the two a co-founding members of The Bad Movie Club. He maintained an interest in politics, both nationally and internationally, making him a great conversationalist when discussing world affairs. He was also especially interested in the history of WW II. He was his always his own man. My heart goes out to Beth and the rest of his lively family.

I enjoyed conversations with Art. We clicked on our shared interest in movies. He was a detail-retaining teller. Our last conversation was about The African Queen, how Humphrey Bogart played a character with a soft heart for falling in love, different from his tough guy gangster movies. He told me he met Albert Einstein when Art was a college boy and he was struck dumb trying to ask Einstein a complex question. Those last months, he personally mused on the foibles of being human.
