Schrader Funeral Home and Crematory - Ballwin Obituary

Sullivan, Arthur Andrew Jr., baptized into the hope of Christ's resurrection, Thursday, November 23, 2017.

Beloved husband of Nancy Sullivan (nee Garrison); devoted father of Brian (Ann) Sullivan, Kevin (Jean) Sullivan and the late Karen Sullivan; adoring grandfather of Hannah, Jason, Bridget, Sarah, Bryce and Abigail; loving brother of Gerald (Judy) Sullivan and his late twin brother Joseph Sullivan; dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend of many.

Art was born and raised in St. Louis, the son of a City of St. Louis police officer. He obtained a degree in accounting from Western Kentucky University shortly after marrying Nancy in 1963. Art was a true “company man” working for Sachs Properties/Sachs Electric after graduating and until his retirement as the company’s Chief Financial Officer in 1999. He “retired” at an early age to help Nancy care for their daughter Karen who battled Niemann-Pick disease until her death in 2004. He was an unassuming man of faith, a St. Louis sports fan and a talented financial executive. He enjoyed doing just about anything that involved spending time with his family and friends.

Services: Memorial Mass and reception at Ascension Catholic Church, Chesterfield, Saturday, Dec. 9th at 2pm. Family also available 1-1:45pm prior to service. Interment PRIVATE. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the National Niemann-Pick Foundation at www.nnpdf.org. Friends may sign the family's on-line guestbook at Schrader.com.

Not sure what to say?

Nancy, I am so sorry to read of Art´s death. I was goggling and thought of you both. I am so sorry, he was a lucky man , a family patriarch.

My Heartfelt condolences to Nancy and family. I knew and loved Karen.

I was best friends with his brother Joe, but I met Art a couple of times.

I worked at Sachs Electric with Art for many years and I have to say Art was the most down to earth and the one of the nicest man that I ever worked with. My condolences to the family.

We remember the wonderful times spent with Art, Nancy and Barb and Fred Helfrich at Orange Beach and the December couples conference at the White House. Art was the kind of person who could turn ordinary contact into a treat. He drew others to him through his humility warm smile and friendliness. Christian love was exhibited in all he said and did. His courage in confronting a dreadful illness is an example to us all. We are sure that Art went home for Christmas.

Dear Nancy,
It has been 18 years since Tom and I first met you and Art. It has been our joy, privilege, and fun to know you both. Now, Tom and Art are both gone but the memories are still with us. And, so is our friendship, Nancy. Love ya, Joan Church
P.S. My sympathy to your wonderful family.

Brian and Family, We are so sorry for your loss. You all are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. With love and deepest sympathy, Scott and Lisa Schumacher Family

I never met you but your twin brother was my best friend.

My sincere condolences on the passing of Art. He was a true gentleman, a man of faith, and a family man. Art always made me smile, and I will always remember the joy I felt being around him.
