Not sure what to say?

Coach Baker recruited me to ECU in 1988. He was a wonderful man. He was a Christian before anything else. I will forever love him for the opportunity he gave me. In Jesus name may Coach Baker be in Glory enjoying his eternal life. Amen

It was a privilege and an honor to observe Art's Christian leadership and dedication to others at College Place UMC and the Hafner Scholarship Fund Faculty and Staff Alumni Group.

Sad to hear of Coach Baker´s death & Edith years ago. Knew Baker´s when lived in McColl. Knew his brother Bobby well. Polly & Whit Wilson

Coach Baker was a kind soul. I enjoyed meeting and working with him at USC. May he rest in peace

Dear Family, I WAS SADDENED TO HEAR OF AT PASSING AWAY. WE WERE GOOD FRIEND AT Presbyterian College WHERE I FINISHED IN 1950 . I GOT TO SEE HIM WHEN HE WAS ON THE CLEMSON FOOTBALL COACHING STAFF AND PERIOICALLY THROUGHOUT THESE MANY YEARS. HE WAS A WONDERFULL PERSON AND FRIEND. WE HAD A NICE VISIT AT HOMECOMING TWO YEARS AGO. I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER HIM FONDLY. THOMAS G. (JERRY) SMITH

Thank you for your service to our Country.

Dear family I was so sorry to hear about Coach Baker´s death. I had the privilege of working for him as a graduate assistant at Furman. He was a wonderful person who had a positive impact on thousands of people. I always enjoyed his company. My thoughts and prayers will be with you. Buddy Jennings

They were scrimmaging when a young DB picked off a pass, fighting for the ball on the way to the ground. Coach ran to the player, grabbed him up, ripped off his purple coach's shirt and pulled it over the DB's jersey, yelling and praising him as practice continued, coach with no shirt. I thought that was the greatest thing I had...

Art and Eddie were members of the Executives Club of the Midlands and were very dedicated. Loved to hear the stories of his coaching life. They were, also, a member of my church Trenholm Rd UMC in Columbia. Art never met a stranger and was loved by all.
