Not sure what to say?

The world has lost a truly unique human being.....haberdashers being the exception. So much intelligence, warmth, humor, and talent was embodied in such a down to earth manchild. I can´t tell the number of times he made me die laughing. All his friends still remember his "LAAAAAWD!" followed by what we decided was more than a chortle, but was, in fact, a "guffaw". He was impossible not to love....

Art was the first person I met at Colonial Hills when we moved to Lynchburg 6 years ago and he easily convinced me to join which I´ll never regret. From that point on I always enjoyed playing with Art ( even though he played from the green tees and would take my money. One of the best times I had with him was playing in the Super Senior tournament. We didn´t finish very well but had a great time talking about our adventures in the 60´s and 70´s. He will truly be missed.

I've had the pleasure of calling Art my friend for over 50 years. I first met Art in 1974 at VA Tech. I worked for Art at Colonial Hills for over 30 years. We played alot of golf together with most rounds Art having his hand in my wallet. I will surely miss his presence at the course. Rest in peace my friend.

We played a lot of golf together. He will be missed by many! He was a good guy with a big heart! RIP!

He was my brother and I miss him

Art Costan was a great person and my good friend since high school. He was one of the most generous & kind people I have ever met. He did so much for Lynchburg with the usage of his golf course and the many charities he supported. He let local high schools use the course for free. Only his closest friends knew of his contributions in time & money he gave. Art never wanted or expected any praise for what he had done. His parents were a copy for Art in their contributions to Lynchburg. His...

I remember Art well, most especially as he was one of the brothers in Phi Delta Gamma fraternity at Hampden-Sydney College. Gone too soon, but not forgotten.

I will start with how much I miss my dear friend "Skippy". The last number of years we were the team that the Tuesday/Thursday gang wanted to play, he absolutely looked forward to these matches with his "Little Buddy". Skippy also looked forward to our road trips when we would take a group and travel for a day of golf, we always rode together and conversation was fun with plenty of laughing , sometimes at ourselves or those we played with. It is safe to say that 90% Of the golf I played...

I´ve known Art since 1967 as both a fraternity brother at Hampden-Sydney College and as a friend. He was an unlike the typical college guy ... loved to have a good time partying but very intelligent and able to enjoy life. I succeeded him as House Manager at our fraternity house for two years. He had set the path for the success of that position so. I didn´t have any problems when that took place. He had a booming voice and you could not mistake him for anyone else when you heard him. I had...
