Arthur Frommer

My condolences.

Frommer´s Europe on Five Dollars a Day was the perfect companion when I went for the summer after college graduation in 1963. It not only helped me navigate hotels and restaurants and museums but also opened the door to at least a partial immersion in normal European life. I went from London to Athens and back, sometimes on public transportation, sometimes hitchhiking but always with his guide in my duffel bag.

I am very saddened to learn of the death of Arthur Frommer. In my travels to all seven continent (including 53 nations), I have used so many of his travel books and found them to be very helpful and informative.
