Not sure what to say?

I knew Art when he started working at the old library on 1st Ave. He came to live with us for a few years, then again when we moved to F.Street in town. He had a dog named Lump and he was always sitting on a stump. He also had a pet hooded rat named Esmeralda. He took care of me when I came down with the flu for 4 days. He was a sweet, gentle man and very funny and kind. I was sad to hear of his passing. He loved just to go out in the Gold Stream Valley and hunt for his fossils, which...

Late nights working on term papers up at the old "node" at UAF, Art somehow managed to always sneak me in some coffee for one of his infamous "laugh breaks." Art made a big difference in his small kindnesses. Compassionate, witty and just an all around great guy. Your presence will be missed.

I worked with Art for over 20 years at the University of Alaska. I was first hired as a temporary key punch operator so Art could take a two month vacation. He was a great co-worker and always quick to tell a joke and lighten the mood of the day.

I will always remember our first trip we took together to Healy to go hiking. I am glad you are at peace now and back with your loving dogs. I miss you Art.

Art was the BEST News-Miner carrier ever! His friendly notes tucked into the paper, his timeliness and willingness to bring a missed paper out to the Old Nenana Highway after hours, and his love of animals made him a neighborhood favorite. He's now one with the natural world. Great adventures, Art.

Like Russ Newell, I was another of Art's coworkers at the university for many years. I always appreciated Art's sense of humor as well as respected his humility and up-beat attitude. He enriched the lives of many of us, and I'm glad that I knew him.

My old friend... I'll miss you, most often when I'm on the trail for our beloved Alaska wolves.

I worked with Art for over two decades at the University. I recall his great wit. I am saddened to hear he is gone.

My sympathy goes out to your family during this grief. Your many friends and the memories of your love one will comfort you and help get you through the days to come.
