Not sure what to say?

Having known him from our family reunions and my father Curtis Nevils Sr. always talking about him as a musician's musician and told me he's the other musical person in the family other then himself, he told me about Mr. Hoyle traveling the world playing his trumpet and directing his band and arranging and that he married Ruth, my father's cousin, my father spoke volumes on him. When he and Ruth came to my father's first family reunion my father was elated they came. I remember one of my...

I am at a loss for words during this sorrowful time. Please know that I am thinking of you and praying for peace and comfort. This is am image of Art from Jazz In The Park 2014!

Art, a good friend and a positive force, left a huge impression on me and all those he touched. His void in our lives will be felt deeply. A humble, charismatic force equal to his musical achievement and legacy will live in our hearts forever. Bless you Art and Ruth.

I joined the Greater Gary American Jazz Association July '88 continuing through now; During this period I got to know Art personally. For GGAJA Art was an instructor for our jazz workshops, a performer, a facilitator to other musicians we needed and a jazz historian. Before '88 he was only a GREAT musician to me. Now I will miss his jokes and stories from his experiences. Condolences to his family.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

Oh my goodness! Whenever I think of or see Art Hoyle I get a great big ole smile on my face. From what I have heard, Art lived a full life that he enjoyed. He was a "smiler" too. In the choir or in the church, whenever we made eye contact each of us smiled. To see him perform was something else! Who knew that that quiet demeanor had so much fire inside. I will always remember him with joy. Blessings to Ruth, such a class act. Praying for your peace.

Art was one of the most wonderful people I have known. He was always joyful and portrayed a very visible love for jazz and the jazz community. Any stage appearance he made he added a higher level to the performance. Audience response to his performances was always very enthusiastic! I was fortunate to have worked with him. He will be remembered. Sleep in heavenly peace jazz friend.

I will always be grateful to Arthur for the family history and pictures he shared with us.
