Not sure what to say?

It has been three years since Art left us, and I miss him dearly. He was the most prominent pillar of structural engineering practice and forensic engineering in the Pacific Northwest. He authored two books that we used in our course, Forensic Structural Engineering, at PSU.
We had a wonderful 45-year long friendship, and I very much miss our weekly meetings, his forensic lectures, our luncheons and coffee breaks together.
May God continue to bless his family and give them...

I consider myself incredibly blessed and lucky to have met Mr. James through Dr. Franz Rad's Structural Forensics Seminar at Portland State University. I am saddened to hear of his passing, but all who knew him will hopefully take solace in knowing that his generosity in sharing his knowledge and experience undoubtedly impacted multiple generations of structural engineers (myself included). His spirit will live on through the work many of us do each day as we apply the "lessons learned"...

To all of you who joined us at the Multnomah Athletic Club on Saturday - Thank you so much.
The standing-room only memorial was wonderful. All of the speakers brought different part's of Arthur's legacy to light and helped us see his life.
Feel free to share photos here if you took some. We are grateful - as his extended family - for the memories you shared.

I will miss Art - a special friend! We were in Rotary and that is where we met, but we also met many times at Portland State events. Art was the oldest member of our Rotary Club and also held the honor of being a member for 66 years - another record! He and Sandra took my national parks class a few years ago - it was fun having them both as students. He was always interested in helping the students -either in engineering or geology at PSU!
Cheers, Scott

I was saddened to read of Art's passing.
In my years working at the Multnomah Athletic Club I met many people, none impressed me more then Art. His engineering knowledge was outstanding.
From roofs to swimming pools and many other major projects, his guidance was invaluable. His solutions to project issues were always to the club's best interests. His style cannot be replaced.
May he rest un peace.

Thanks, Franz, for adding photos. They are wonderful.
