Arthur Cherny Segal

Art was one of my beloved professors at UAB, and decades later we reconnected and stayed in touch via letters and his periodic phone calls. I have modeled my teaching career in meteorology in part on his example. I'm sad to see this news, belatedly.

I loved Art.. He made me laugh, think, and wonder at the information he shared. He truly never stopped learning. He was humble about his accomplishments. But most importantly, he made me feel loved. He was generous, supportive and kind in so many ways. I will miss him.

I first met Art when the Friends of Big Canoe Creek organized and fought the quarry in Washington Valley. He was serious about the cause, but laid back and chill in his manner, which I always appreciated. I always wave hello when I drive past his house. So sorry he is gone. I know y'all will miss him so much.

Was a wonderful teacher and a great influence on my mathematics teaching career. Very thankful for what he did for me.

My deepest sympathy for the Segal family and friends. Sorry for your loss. May the peace of God comfort you during this most difficult time.
