Not sure what to say?

Art was a perpetually upbeat man with a smile and friendly nature. I had a rock band on OWU´s campus and he came to most of our concerts. Besides being a good athlete Arr knew a lot about music & the songs we were doing & the lyrics to most. Great guy always fun to be around.

Even if I only knew him for a few years I loved him partly as papa but also partly as a friend he was so kind and free and papa you acted a tiny bit off the script which made it good i love you so much With love - Arthur

I knew Art for several years at Ohio Wesleyan U between 1960 & 1964 when we were both students. Really outgoing and friendly guy who would always offer to help others. He used to listen to my band at social events, which I appreciated. I grew up in Greene County close to Dayton where I played in HS bands, so Art and I had some acquaintances in common. Sorry I just learned of his passing. Tom Waechter

I'm not sure how I missed this sad news. As my coach, churchmate, and fellow movie extra, I've known Art for all of my adult life, and I will miss him. Condolences and prayers to the whole family.

Papa, you meant so much to me and i loved you beyond what you could imagine. I was taken off guard when i heard you had passed away and for a while, didnt believe it. You meant the world to me and i will try my best to keep our name going and to have people remeber you.

Just very belatedly found out the terrible news of Art's passing. It's very hard to put into words what his friendship meant to our family and, especially, my parents. He and Diane were there for them through some very difficult years at the end, and he's been a great friend to my brother and I. He had the kind of presence that you really can't believe the news when you hear he's not with us anymore. My family offers its deepest felt condolences to all of the Shilt family.

My condolences to your family. You shared a portion of your Hyde Park life with my parents, and I know they valued your friendship. Carol Meyer-Bruetting

We are so sorry, Diane a nd family, to learn of Art's passing. We attended the lovely service at HPCUMC along with Barry Clemons, but were unable to remain to offer personal condolences, as we had another appointment. Cincinnati and the Ohio Wesleyan community is diminished by the loss of Art. What a guy!

Art ..... you caught us off guard! I don't recall ever meeting anyone so genuine as you! Diane, Adam, David, and Andrea are in our prayers to help ease the pain of your passing. Those who knew you for your deadly set shot know you'll be teaching the angels something about how it's done!
