Not sure what to say?

Flute was a friend from 1960, when we were both freshmen at Tuskegee and both from Birmingham. There are many memories of camaraderie at Tuskegee, including the last time I saw him at Homecoming 2002. He was also a neighbor of a dear friend of mine, Alease Sims, so I had the opportunity to go down the street and visit him. I will miss both the Birmingham and Tuskegee opportunities to hang out with THE Arthur Lee Smith!

I met "Flute" in the summer of 1961 and he has been a dear friend since that time. A Birmingham homeboy that made me feel at home when I arrived at Tuskegee. I will miss seeing him at our usual homecoming hangout. My prayers at with the family.

Flute you will be missed greatly.
Carl (mop) and Liz wish to express our deepest sympathy to your family during this time of mourning. We will reflect back on the times we had at Tuskegee University. A friendship that spanned more than 40 years. We will miss you. To the Family, may God strengthen and guide you through this valley.

This is to express my heart felt condolences to the family of Arthur Lee "Flute" Smith. I was a member of his freshman class at Tuskegee and I'm thankful that I had the opportunity to see Flute at Homecoming 2002. God Bless!

To the Smith Family:
Please accept our deepest sympathy. We pray you will take comfort in knowing that Flute is in the arms of He who sustains us. May you endure these difficult times, keep the faith, and arrive at a place of peace and understanding.
