Not sure what to say?

I got to know Art when I would rent one of his portable recording devices for my own work. One night, when he had a performance at Pearl Street night club, I went. He was rockin´ out when he ascended the bar and, with a long guitar cord, proceded to "walk the bar," from one end to the other in a spectacular bit of showmanship, while soloing! I was quite impressed and remember it still. Way cool!

" Put your baseball caps on ... because we're ready to rock ... now let's give them a show ..." Third anniversary.

Though Art and I were not friends, his life and music intertwined with mine in many ways over the past 30 years. Some of my long-time best friends I met through Art. We bought a piano from Art, and after delivering it he sat down and played it, rocking-out one last time before it was ours. A funky old upright from the late 1800's with a great honky tonk sound. We later upgraded to a more classical piano, but now I wish we still had Art's old piano. Besides his obvious musical talents, he was...

In every memory I have of Art, he was smiling or laughing. He was a genuinely good, kind soul, and he is already greatly missed.

I have not seen Art in decades. We attended Pittsfield High together. I remember those first guitars he had. Art introduced me to Jimi Hendrix, Hey Jo and the Blues. I am FOREVER grateful to have known and played with him in our youthful days. Peace unto you Art. Safe journey.

Art, from the time the Fine Arts Center opened and I tried my best to hire you as our 'sound guy' to the gig you did for me in Fredonia NY you were always so nice to me and everyone you worked with. Loved your Blues.

Art Steele, my music was greatly expanded by your genius, your gentleness; I am so grateful that we traveled together when you said yes to becoming sound engineer for Sweet Honey In The Rock. I am sure you will find ways to create and expand sound systems to facilitate us having increased access to the beautiful sonic energy you experience as you continue your unending journey....
