Not sure what to say?

I've know Dr. White most of my life. He was my ortho Doc. at St. Mary's hospital in SF Where he set fractures put pins in my hand wrist (1973&1977)and performed disc. (L4&5) surgery in 1980. I was one of his first back patients. I never forgot it when he told me, Bruce i can make a scalpel sing but what you do after your surgery will determine if you are in a wheel chair in your 30's or living a normal pain free life. After 44 years I never had another surgery for my back and I live with...

Arthur White was an unusual man and an unusual doctor. I was designing weight training programs and machines as well as furniture for people who were either suffering from back problems or who needed ergonomic help with their back problems. I called Arthur and told him I had a special chair that would be useful for hand surgeons who needed to sit for many hours at a time and he said "meet me in San Rafael at a certain intersection and show it to me". I loaded my large chair in the car and Art...

Dr. White helped me with my back in 1997! If I had not seen him, I almost certainly would not still be walking.. anywhere! Thank you, to his family, I'm sure you all sacrificed from his time and energy spent with patients. I will never forget him and what he did for me, and by extension, my family. Our deepest condolences.

I was so sorry to hear of Arthur's passing. He was a great teacher, my mentor and friend. Now, many years my fellowship at SpineCare I still remember his caring nature.

I new the doctor quite well, as Bert.We spent the day together in the trunk of a car as our initiation into the Box Droppers Club.I mean all day into the night. Then dumped into Golden Gate casting ponds blindfolded .As i said we were quite close.

I'm sadden by his passing and wish him the
best on his journey.

Dr White was a pleasure to work with - he was such a cheerleader for conservative care and all that a good team could do for our patients! It is a special surgeon who champions all of the other members of a team, and like Jeanne Davidson, I feel honored and fortunate to have worked with Dr White at St Mary's.

So very sorry to hear that Arthur has passed away. I hope all his family will remember all the good times. He is missed and aways will be. Lynne, Gay, Trevor, Jennifer, and Thad, I wish you all peace.

I had the honor to work with Dr. White at St. Mary's Spine Center. He was a great mentor. To this day, I often refer to some phrase, analogy, or simple explanation he used with patients to help them understand their spine problem. He always gave them hope. May he rest in peace with God. My heartfelt sympathy extends to Gay and the family.

Art White was a wonderful partner in practice, we even shared a desk in the Spine and Sports Med Ctr. at St. Marys Hosp. Our mentor, Dr Taylor said that would never work; that was about the only time Dr Taylor was ever wrong. Art was a wonderful, energetic partner, who rightfully should be considered the "Father of Conservative Spine Care"; but he was equally excellent in Spine Surgery. He will Not be forgotten!
