Not sure what to say?

When we entered a room, and saw Art's warm, open, smiling, intelligent countentance, all we could do was gravitate towards him and Elaine. We wanted to be near him, to hear his thoughts, enjoy his attention to us, and delight in his and Elaine's beautifully crafted use of the English language. We'd pick Art and Elaine to be with on a deserted island. Elaine, we love you, and thank you for modeling such an awesome relationship with your beloved Art. Take good care of yourself.

Art was like the father I never really had. (and Elaine the mother, and Mark, the brother). All of the Woodland family are such good, wonderful people,, words do not do justice. Art was the head of that family. Words may fail me, but the joy and love that Art, and all of them gave and give, are the best rememberances and evidence of the remarkable Woodlands. Rest peacefully Art, but,,, with Mark there with you, I doubt you will get much rest! Love Jeff Yuhos p.s. my deepest sympathies Elaine

Kayla and I have always looked forward to seeing Art (and Elaine) every winter. They have been great allies for the GLBT community. I will miss his great smile and his singing....

Art lived his life well. He made the world a little better each place he visited. Winters will be a little colder and more lonely in Tucson without Art here to warm them with his smile and good humor.

We will always remember Art's devotion to Parents, Families, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays and his and Elaine's love of their son Mark. All who knew Art deeply appreciate his efforts to improve the lives of all LGBT people. We will all miss Art's open and loving spirit.

Dear Elaine, We are so sorry to hear about Art's death. Please let us know if we can do anything to help you. With love, Bob and Mary Ellen
