Not sure what to say?

Better late than never, I hope. I had Mr. Baca for Spanish 3/4 and Spanish 5/6 @ TLHS in 1982-83 and 1983-84 and really learned a lot. He was one of my favorite teachers there, and very generous w/ his time. I ended up taking more Spanish in college and still can understand --if native speakers speak slowly enough!-- and communicate when necessary, which isn't uncommon in CA. Funny, I recall that he told us that he played guard on his high school football team and I remember his story about...

Friends and Students,

I do remember you and your comments bring joy to my heart. Thank you for your kind thoughts and shared memories.
You can often find me at Peet's in the mornings. Feel free to join or ask for me. Best wishes to you all.

I'm grateful to Mr. Baca for teaching me Spanish in both high school and when I was at College of Marin. He tutored me in college and gave me inspiration. He was so smart, had a great sense of humor and was generous of spirit. I still remember dialogs with Senora Baca from jr. high and conjugating verbs with Senior Baca in high school and beyond. I am grateful for this family that gave me a love for the Spanish language and a very good experience in life.

I was fortunate to have both Mrs. & Mr. Baca for Spanish. Mr. Baca not only taught us the language but the culture as well. My husband and I try to get away to Mexico every year or so for vacation and I am grateful for my ability to speak, although limited, Spanish. I remember one trip to Argentina, I was walking around the tiny town of Puerto Iguazo. I looked up and saw "La Biblioteca". I was so excited that after all the Donde esta la biblioteca's" we said in class, I had finally found...

Miss you Uncle Art.

Wonderful Spanish teacher! My condolences to the family.

I had the pleasure of being in both Mr and Mrs Baca's Spanish classes.

Mr. Baca always taught much more than the Spanish language. He showed how to think critically and despite his blindness always could really see his students, more than most teachers. I remember at the beginning of each class he would let us play Carlos Santana on his turntable. We would always play "Oye Coma Va" or "Black Magic Woman" He will always be remembered.

Mrs. Baca was my 7th grade Spanish teacher. On the first day of school, she wrote her name on the board. She said that it meant cow in Spanish and that it should be spelled with a V not a B but nobody pronounced it correctly when it was spelled with a V so they changed it. I didn't care about all of that because I could not stop thinking that I would never marry anyone whose name meant cow in Spanish, but I did.
I did not have Mr. Baca at Terra Linda, but my locker was directly across...

I had Mrs. Baca at Miller Creek and Señor Baca at Terra Linda. He was a great Spanish teacher. And yes, he knew if you were reading (cheating) . I used to go and just talk with him after school. Great memories!
