Veggie, I want to offer my most sincere sympathy to you and your family at the loss of your husband and friend Asker Sydney "Jimmy" Downer. Over the many years that our paths would cross socially, he alway presented himself as a kindhearted gentleman with a warm smile. May you be comforted during this difficult time. God Bless

My sincere condolences to the family of Syd Downer. Mr. Downer loved cricket and he loved the West Indian Social club. He was a huge help while I was President at the West Indian Social Club. Syd will be missed by many of his friends. We need more men like Mr. Downer to teach us to be brave and fearless. Rest in peace my friend.
