WILKERSON - Aubrey Wilkerson, 89, passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2009 following a brief illness. He is survived by his beloved wife, Noreen of Albuquerque; two daughters, Rosie Tibbit and husband, Bob of Van Vleck, TX, and Janice Jewell and husband, Jerry of Albuquerque; sister, Ellie Sharp of Fairhope, AL; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews. Aubrey was born on June 19, 1920 in Forest, MS to C.C. Wilkerson and Ione Tadlock. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and two brothers. Following high school, Aubrey and three friends traveled to Wyoming to find work. On January 8, 1942 he entered the Army at Camp Shelby, MS and served as a Medical NCO in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, and Central Europe, including the Liberation of Dachau Concentration Camp. He was discharged in October of 1945. Aubrey followed the oil field working in many states. He met and married Noreen while working in Gallup. They made their final move to Farmington in 1957. He retired from Plateau Refinery in 1984 and lived in Belen until moving to a retirement community in Albuquerque in 2006 with his wife Noreen. Aubrey will long be remembered by his family and friends. He was a favorite uncle to many nephews and nieces. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren will have many wonderful memories of Granddaddy! Friends may visit French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, Sunday, December 13, 2009 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Services will be held Monday, December 14, 2009, 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, with interment following at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
