Passed away at Dufferin Place in Nanaimo on Sunday, January 15th, 2012. Born January 25th, 1920, Audrey was the oldest daughter of the late Andrew and Adela Dunsmore. She married Lloyd George Bertram, a native son of Nanaimo, on March 27, 1946. The couple had three children and Audrey devoted her time to her family and her church. When her children were older, she worked for Meyers Holland (Ford) Motors for many years until she retired in 1982. Audrey's life revolved around her church activities. She was a long-time church board member and Treasurer, and President of the UCW.
Her love of music stemmed from an upbringing in a musical home, where she played violin in a piano trio with her sisters Adele and Mavis. She met her husband Lloyd through the church choir and was always supportive of his involvement in the Barbershop singing community. She is survived by her daughters Andrea Bertram-(Michael) Sloan and Adela (Terry) Duchen, son Ray (Diana) Bertram of Nanaimo, granddaughter Aisslinn Nosky of Toronto, and grandsons Aaron Nosky (Calgary), Drew Duchen (Qualicum), Kevin Bertram (Fort Wayne, Indiana), Jerod Bertram (Toronto), great-granddaughter Kiley Bertram (Fort Wayne), and her sister Mavis (Allan) Jordan of Victoria.
A Memorial Service will be held Monday, February 6th at 1 PM at
St. Andrew's United Church, 311 Fitzwilliam St, Nanaimo BC.
