August Merz

I had Mr. Merz in 8th and 12th grade, both years I liked his class a lot, mainly because he knew I didn´t really enjoy math all that much but his class was definitely an exception. During my senior year he was talking to me one day and told me how he wrote something about the middle school basketball team and I was included in it, this was the nicest thing a teacher had done for me and I didn´t even know until 4 years after he wrote it, Just shows that he was a extremely kind man and did good...

Mr. Merz was, and forever will be, an amazing person. He showed true kindness and compassion. Having him as my math teacher at CatFoot when I first moved here in 2021 is something I´ll never forget. He helped me so much and showed true passion in his work, always wanting the best for the kids around him. His students miss him dearly and all send condolences to his loving family and friends he´s made along the way.

Sandy was an intelligent and thoughtful man. I last saw him 20 years ago at another classmate's memorial, Tom Walkey. So sorry to hear of his passing.
