The Christian Benevolent Funeral Home, Inc., announces with the deepest sympathy the transition of Mrs. Aurelia Mae Hicks Williams.

Aurelia Mae Hicks Williams was born on March 16, 1952, in Mobile, Alabama, to the late Lawrence and Mary Hicks. She was a resident of Mobile, Alabama. She exchanged life for eternity on Thursday, May 13, 2021.

She is preceded in death by her father, Lawrence Hicks, Sr., sister Rosetta Hicks Howard, brother Lawrence Hicks, Jr., mother Mary L. Hicks, and brother Jesse Lee Hicks. Aurelia was a 1970 graduate of Toulminville High School. She was also a graduate of Bishop State Community College and a proud graduate of Alabama State University, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work. For 14 years, she was an operator for South Central Bell. She also worked for the Department of Human Resources where she retired after 23 years. Aurelia was a devoted member of Nazaree Full Gospel Church where she sang in the choir. She was a faithful member of FAVOR Ministries, a non-profit faith-based organization.

She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. Aurelia leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 44 years, Mr. Charles E. Williams, Sr.; daughter, Erin (Johnathan) Hunter of Mobile, AL and son, Charles E. Williams II of Baton Rouge, LA; two loving grandchildren, Jailah and Johnathan; a devoted brother, Rhovilus (Debra) Hicks of Jonesboro, GA; two nieces, Stephanie Howard of Humble, TX and Jessica Brunes of Washington, D.C. and one nephew, Shawn Hamilton of Jersey City, NJ and a host of nieces and nephews.

She will be dearly missed by her beloved friends: Overseer Gladys K. White, Margaret Crawley, Jacqueline M. Freeman, and the members of the Crichton Girls Organization.

Not sure what to say?

I dearly miss my friend, my co-worker, and most of all my Sisters in Christ. We played together, we laughed together and we prayed together. She will forever be in my heart. I will continue to pray for Aurelia’s family. Much love to Erin, LC, Mr. Charles and the grandchildren.

Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints. Psalm 116:15. Aurelia and I met at Bishop State and were roommates at Alabama State University. She had a kind, gentle spirit and a warm smile. She made a great impact on my life. We shared many laughs and good times! Praying for Charles and the family. Rest in Heaven my sweet cousin

May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.

May the love of friends and family carry you through your grief.

Memories are forever so to Aurelia’s family and friends cherish all of the wonderful memories and she will live on and bring you comfort.

Ms. Aurelia and I joined NFGC the same Sunday. At one point we even sang in the choir together. She was a beautiful lady with a beautiful soul. My condolences to the family. Praying for you.
