Austin was also well known for his community service. In the 1970's he volunteered as a special police officer with the Mt. Kisco police department. During the early to mid 1980's he served as fire chief with the Mt Kisco Union Hook and Ladder Co.

Sorry to hear about Austin and your Mom.Your Mom and mine worked in the telephone company for years and were good friends.I often thought about all of you.

I was in total shock to read that your mom and brother died within one day of one another. My mom and your mom were very good friends. They grew up in the Bronx together, in fact your mom was my mothers maid of honor. I have a picture of your mother on that day and that was 67 years ago. My parents and my brother were frequent visitors to your house in Mt Kisco. I can remember a gate being across the step of your house so we couldn't go down stairs to where the bodies were being viewed. I...
