Not sure what to say?

I just learned today of Austin's passing. I remember visiting with Aunt Rose and Uncle Frank and having the pleasure of playing with Austin and all the Menges Children. We always enjoyed being with them. I want to extend my sincere sympathy to his surviving brothers and sisters.

As a child I spent time with Austin staying in St. Joe when my parents would travel to Arizona. Austin would walk with me to the General Store to buy penny candy and a cold bottle of pop. He would reflect on his experiences, tell me his hopes and dreams for what his life might be like, and yet remain very humble about his own kind and generous deeds. He was a good man, and a gentle soul.

I was saddened by the news of "Doc's" passing. Growing up in the Andale community I remember him from my earliest years as a gentle soul. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this time of loss.

My condolences to the Menges family. In growing up and going to school at St Joe, Doc was a fixture of the little community, and liked by everyone. He is truly one of St Joe's iconic figures. So sad to see him and a lot of the older people who built that community, and made it such a wonderful experience growing up, pass away. Rest in Peace Doc!

I remember Austin and Frances both coming to to the school when I was younger to play catch with a football with the kids. My condolences go out to Austin's family! May Austin and Frances's souls rest in peace.

I grew up with "Doc" living just across the field from me. He was one of the most kind and gentle men I have ever known. He will now be with God and the angels. My condolences to your family on loosing such a kind soul.

My brother Austin loved St. Joe, the church and the people. He always talked about coming back home during his stay in Sedgwick Nursing Home. Now he has come home.
