I first met Ava at Hebrew School. We were nine years old when we became instant friends. She wore her hair in pig tails, and I was so happy to meet someone with hair almost as curly as mine. She had the biggest grin on her face and smiled all of the time. I often went home with her after Sunday School, and we played together all afternoon. Ava was a dear friend from the first time we met at Temple Emanuel and realized that we share a Schenectady, NY connection. We shared many interests. Ruth and I always kvelled if we met Ava and Bob (and a bonus if Alanna was with them) at a restaurant. May her memory ever be a blessing.
