Dear Green Family,
I was so saddened to learn of the passing of your amazing mother. Our Dad adored her and couldn't get enough of those hilarious St. Catherine parish musical numbers. She was a true lover of life and an inspiration to all. My most sincere condolences to all of you. Kolin Avenue will never be the same!

My sister & I have had the pleasure of knowing Ave & Dr. John for a very wonderfully long time -- ever since my mother Bride O'Malley taught with the darling young teacher, Ave, at Kershaw School on Chicago's South Side. My Mother kept us up to date on Ave & John's courtship, & we were thrilled to finally meet the handsome couple. Even after Mom transferred to Dawes School & Ave was on maternity leaves, the connection wasn't broken since Dr. John Green became out famioly dentist. Through the years we'd meet Ave at the annual St. Sabina's reunions, & Dr John kept us appraised of family news, which in later years was so sad because of what had befallen Ave. But we saw nothing but kindness & good cheer whenever we'd meet either of them. They'll both be sorely missed. & our hearts go out to their beautiful family.

Dear Green Family,
We've lost another magnificent human being. Ave was life it's own self: a force of nature, a whirlwind of activity, and a powerful spirit. Her determination was infectious. Ave grabbed life with both hands and squeezed every precious moment from it and she left this earth a much better place. What an honor and a pleasure to have known both Ave and John Green. To be in their presence made you shine a little brighter, laugh a little longer, love a little more, and pray a little harder. Godspeed dear Ave.

Ave will always be remembered in the hearts of those who knew her for her vibrant personality and generosity accorded to her many activities over the years. She and John were a great couple and always proud of their family. We are saddened for your loss...Bob and Eileen McGarry

Dear Green family, I wish there was something I could say to take away the pain and sense of loss you are feeling at this time. PLease accept my condolences on the passing of an American original, your beloved mother. Anyone who enjoyed the art of conversation and encountered your mother knew they were in the presence of a first class, caring, high energy, wonderful lady who always put her faith and family first. The description of "personality plus" would be a huge understatement. She always made me feel very welcome in her home on Kolin and I will never forget your folks attending my father's wake in November 2009 after many years of not having any contact. That meant a lot to me and my mother. Needless to say, you were blessed with wonderful extraordinary parents who set a powerful example for you to follow. I'm out of town on spring break with my family and regret not being able to express my condolences in person. Be assured of my prayers. God Bless Mr. and Mrs. John Green.----Bob Napleton

I was truly saddened to learn of your mother's passing this week. My heart goes out to you and your families. Your mother was so vivacious and full of life. How we loved her laugh! The last time I saw your dear parents was five years ago at our mother's (Vi Bailey) 80th birthday celebration. It was wonderful seeing them and sharing so many fond memories. Your mother, just as your father, will be truly missed and you are all in our thoughts and prayers. God bless all of you.

So many wonderful memories of my special cousin, Ave.
As theatrical and outgoing she always was, there was a very caring loving spirit to her. She made everyone feel so special and always wanted to know what was going on in their lives and was especially concerned and caring. In this world, she was most unique and well always be remembered as a very special person we could never forget. So happy she has joined her wonderful husband John in heaven.

Dear Chris, John, Gavin, Ave, Hugh, and families: Sue, Michael, and I send our deepest and sincerest sympathies on the loss of your mother, this wonderful whirlwind of a lady who was always so full of life and who made her way into the hearts of those many people whose life she touched. To meet Ave was a moment to be remembered forever; to actually know Ave and have her as a friend was a magnificent, life-changing experience that I know I will cherish always. Whenever she spoke to you it was as if there was no other person that counted more than you at that very moment. She had time and love to share with everyone. Ave was truly a warm and shining heart-light in my life. Thank you for sharing your mother with so many of us for so many years; we will always be in your debt for giving us the privilege and opportunity to know and love Ave Green.
