Avram Kronsberg WADMALAW ISLAND, SC - Avram Kronsberg, 74, of Wadmalaw Island died Monday, November 29, 2010. He was born in Charleston on August 27, 1936, a son of Edward and Hattie Barshay Kronsberg, graduated from Rivers High School and attended Tulane University. Avram was President and Chief Executive Officer of Edward's Stores, Inc. and the Harrison Co. He managed thirty-five stores and thirty-five hundred employees. Avram was an avid outdoorsman, car enthusiast, art collector, reader and community leader: a renaissance man who had varied interests and friends from all walks of life. Avram was an aficionado of the decorative arts and was known for his elegant taste and bearing. He was in awe of nature and spent hours bird watching, walking in the woods, gazing at the marsh and strolling the beach. Avram was a Past President of the Trident Chamber of Commerce, the Coastal Environmental Coalition, the Carolina Art Association, the United Way and the Wholesale Buying Group; a Past Chairman of the United Negro College Fund; a Past Board Member of the YMCA, the SCANA Corporation, the American Fishing Tackle Manufacturer's Association, the Boy Scouts of America, the Girl Scouts of America, the South Atlantic Coastal Fisheries Council, the South Carolina National Bank and was a friend of Bills. Avram's family would like to thank his many friends for their care and support during his recent illness. He is survived by two sons: Edward Kronsberg and his wife, Amy, and R. Tilghrman Kronsberg; four grandchildren: Elliott, Zachary, William and Fury; a brother: Jonathan S. Kronsberg and his former wives, Jane and Marlene. Avram was predeceased by a son, Avram Kronsberg, Jr. The relatives and friends of Avram Kronsberg are invited to attend his Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 1, 2010, at the Graveside, Emanu-El Cemetery, Maryville. Hello, my name is Claudia Coles Hawkins Abram was my first kiss. He made me this sillly copper ring and I have kept it all these years. I spent countless hours playing at his house and he loved The Carpentwrs! Just wanted to y´all to know that as as an 8 year old he was important to me. I still have his his homemade ring.

As others have said, Avram was a true gentleman and a man who loved his family & friends very much. I know those who love him will miss him. I am glad that I knew him and I will miss him too.

Avram was a part of my fondest memories as a child when attending (McEldowney) family reunions in New Martinsville with Jane. Thanks for being you. (Bert McEldowney, Greenville)
