KINGSPORT, TN – B. JULIA HAMMONDS, AGE 89


 


B. Julia Hammonds, age 89 went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 8, 2024 while in the comfort of her own home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Sullivan County, TN on July 24, 1935 to the late Stewart Pitts and Delbert Miles Pitts. Julia was retired from Indian Path Hospital and was of the Pentecostal faith. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, William Victor Hammonds; son, Kirby Lynn Hammonds; grandson, Quinten Allen McClellan; sisters, Nellie Kate Pitts and Louise Tolliver; brother, Henry Pitts; sons-in-law, Sherman Lane, L.C. Albright and Kenneth McClellan.


She is survived by her son, William Leo Hammonds (Karla); daughters, Linda Albright, Patsy Graham (Bobby), Lula Reese (David) and Erma A. Lane; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; special niece, Jenell Lane; several nieces, nephews and cousins.


The family will receive friends from 2-4 PM on Sunday, August 11, 2024 in the chapel at Colonial Funeral Home. Service will follow at 4 PM with Brother Tommy Haynes and Brother Jimmy Hammonds officiating. Music will be provided by Hammonds Family.


Graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, August 12, 2024 at Holston View Cemetery. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:55 AM.


The family would like to extend a special thanks to her caregivers and hospice nurses.

I worked with Julia on 4th floor at Indian Path Hospital. She was always so good to her patients and co- workers. Julia was a good friend to me and I will never forget her. Many Prayers to her Family.
