Three days ago I mailed a letter to B.J. I had visited Akron and seen an old friend, Ruth Thomas, and wrote to pass on her greetings. I also wrote to tell him of the ILWU closing down all the West Coast Ports on May 1, 2008 in protest of the Iraq war. It was an amazing event that was not covered in the media but I thought he'd want to know.

I didn't know Prof. Widick, but what an extraordinary life he had! Thank you for sharing some of the details in his obituary.
