Donald "Don" W. Harmer, a devoted family man, passed away on February 11, 2024, at Cambridge Place in Marysville.

The visitation was Friday, February 16, from 1-9 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary where the family received friends from 6-8 p.m.

A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, at Kinsley Mortuary.  Pastor Andrew Lucas officiated.  The musicians were Rosemary Forst and Scott Keller.

The pallbearers were Ben Sandmann, Grant Sandmann, Alex Sandmann, Josh Lehechka, Devin Harmer and Bob Connell.

The honorary pallbearers were Gina Graham, Jackie Ahsmann, Brieanna Mueller, Jenae Murrow and Jayce McGatlin.

Burial with Military Honors by the Marysville American Legion was held at the Marysville City Cemetery following the funeral.

Don was born on February 3, 1932, in Warrensburg, MO, to Matthew and Rowena (Wampler) Harmer.  In 1950, he graduated from Marysville High School.  In 1952, Don enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and demonstrated his unwavering dedication to his country until his honorable discharge in 1956.

On October 15, 1955, he was united in marriage to Ruby Mae Oehm at the First Baptist Church in Marysville.

After completing his military service, Don pursued a fulfilling career that spanned several decades. He began working at Union Pacific Railroad in the Signal Department and later transitioned to Kansas Power & Light (KPL) and then Western Resources until retiring at age 58.  During his retirement years, Don enjoyed working at Ehnen's Automotive.

Don enjoyed woodworking and found pleasure in attending his grandchildren's events being their shuttle service when they were younger.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Ruby; children, Carol (Tom) Sandmann, Cathy (Tom) Lehechka and Kevin (Sheri) Harmer, all of Marysville; ten grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Paul Harmer; and grandson, Tyler MaRay Harmer.

A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later.  Contributions may be sent in the care of Kinsley Mortuary.
