Mr. and Mrs. Nichols, who died Sunday, December 20, 2009, at their home, were born January 12, 1936, and May 6, 1939, in Town Creek. They loved Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. They loved their church family, their three girls more than themselves and the three husbands they called sons-in-law. They adored their grandchildren, camping, fishing and telling stories (about Gumbo Akum). Mama loved to sing, Daddy loved to fish, and they both loved each other all their lives.
Bailey served in the U.S. Air Force for 21 years as a firefighter and received numerous commendations, awards and medals. He served as a Deacon at New Zion Baptist Church. Bailey and Betty co-owned Nichols Small Engine Shop in Sheffield. Betty was a Sunday school teacher and a loyal choir member, a phenomenal cook, and she took Proverbs 31 to heart. She indeed was a worthy woman. They both will be greatly missed.
