Bailey-Nichols-Obituary

Bailey and Betty Nichols

Obituary

Town Creek
Funeral for Bailey Monroe Nichols, 73, and Betty Jeanette Beck Nichols, 70, of Town Creek will be today, December 26, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Parkway Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bill Coffman of Orlando, Fla., and Bro. Sam Wallace officiating.
Burial will be in Providence Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. and Mrs. Nichols, who died Sunday, December 20, 2009, at their home, were born January 12, 1936, and May 6, 1939, in Town Creek. They loved Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. They loved their church family, their three girls more than themselves and the three husbands they called sons-in-law. They adored their grandchildren, camping, fishing and telling stories (about Gumbo Akum). Mama loved to sing, Daddy loved to fish, and they both loved each other all their lives.
Bailey served in the U.S. Air Force for 21 years as a firefighter and received numerous commendations, awards and medals. He served as a Deacon at New Zion Baptist Church. Bailey and Betty co-owned Nichols Small Engine Shop in Sheffield. Betty was a Sunday school teacher and a loyal choir member, a phenomenal cook, and she took Proverbs 31 to heart. She indeed was a worthy woman. They both will be greatly missed.
Survivors include three daughters, Paula White and husband, Richard, of Fort Worth, Texas, Susan Holladay and husband, David, of Decatur and Rachel Hughes and husband, Troy, of Montgomery; his brothers, Joe Nichols and Jerry Nichols, and her brother, Leland Beck; his sisters, Betty Scoggins and Opal Easterwood, and her sisters, Stella Copeland and Nell Rose; six grandchildren, Scott Christian and wife, Amanda, Sean Christian, Jesse Holladay, Lori Holladay, Chandler Hughes and Gracie Hughes; two stepgrandchildren, Candace Hughes and Nicole Pierce; and three great-grandchildren, Carly Holladay, Bailey Scott Christian and Sadie Beth Christian.
Pallbearers will be David Holladay, Troy Hughes, Richard White, Scott Christian, Sean Christian, Jesse Holladay, Rayburn Beck, Ronald Burke, Braxton Craig, Tab Nichols, Kim Nichols and James Wallace.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Sherrill, Lonnie Grissom, Malcolm Walker, Willard Hagood and Billy Joe Wimberly.

Not sure what to say?

Susan,

I am so sorry for what has happened to your family. Even though I have not seen you in years I still remember you
speaking of your parents with love. May God give the peace you need while going through this.

Mr. Bailey and Ms. Betty were great friends to my mom and step-dad. Everytime I saw Ms. Betty she always hugged me and asked me how I was doing. They were always so thoughtful and caring. Our thoughts and prayers are with all the family.
