Balogun Olugbala, was born on August 28, 1931 in Florida. He was born to the late Lazarus and Julia McMillan. He departed this life on Friday, August 31, 2012. Balugun received his earlier education in Florida School System, and later attended Morgan State University and Sojourner Douglas College in Baltimore where he became a lecturer. Balogun was a very outgoing, outspoken and Trustworthy friend. He worked for Baltimore City Mayor Station for over 27 years. Balogun married Ongsingco and from this union one son (Mandela) was born. Balogun was a member of many organizations as well as serve on panel discussion in fighting for the people. He was one of the founders of the S.O.U.L. School (Society of United Liberators), CORE (Congress of Racial Equality SNCC (Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee). In addition he was a Civil rights Leader, Activist, teacher, historian, Garveyite and he was the one that invited the Black Panther Organization to come to Baltimore,. He was responsible for starting the free breakfast and lunch program in the Baltimore City Public School System. He also served 2 years in the United States Army. Those left to cherish his memories; his wife, Ongsingco, four sons, Mandela, Babatunja, Mario and Maceo; three daughter, Dara'h Taylor, Mariam and Metzima; seven grandsons, Daniel Taylor, Madurice, Mejar, Akil and others; two granddaughter, Daniella Taylor Smith, Amira; great-granddaughters, Darriyelle Wiley and Nadia Taylor; great-grandsons, Dam'mone Wiley and Noah Taylor; two brothers, Englon (Brenda) and Willie; sisters-in-law, Krista Dumlao, Evangeline, Maria Alveraz, Paulina Ongsingco; brothers-in-law, Antonio and Louis Ongsingco, a devoted friend Babatunja, special nephew Englon 3rd; special cousins JB and Nellie Fagan and host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
