Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home & Crematory - Ardmore Obituary

A Celebration of the life of Barbara Ann Martin, 83, also known as Bobbie, will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2025, in the Centennial Chapel of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home with Pastor Chris Todd officiating.

A time of visitation and support for the family will be held Monday evening from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

The daughter of the late O.V. Huffstickler and Ella Loraine Sherrer Smith, Barbara was born December 19, 1941 in Isola, Mississippi and went to be with her Lord on June 26, 2025 in Ardmore, Oklahoma.

She married Tom Herath in 1959 and had three fabulous sons, Steve, Mike and Rick.  After a mutual parting of ways she went on to marry Joseph William Martin and had another son Joseph William Martin the second in 1968.  She lived in Shreveport, Louisiana for a period of time and eventually ended up residing in Ardmore.

Bobbie enjoyed many things in her life such as sewing, and painting.  Many of her painted animal rocks are still around today.  She was pretty salty on her four wheeler as well and if you weren’t careful, she’d leave you in a cloud of dust.  Bobbie especially loved spending time with her family, gathering around her huge dining table enjoying good food and playing card games until late at night.

In her early years, she worked for Brookshires grocery as a checker and finished her career after 17 years with Southwest Electric in Ardmore.  She was an active member of the First Christian Church in Ardmore.

She leaves behind her sons, Steve Martin and his wife Lana; Mike Martin and wife Dana; and Rick Martin and wife Judy; sisters, Opal Virginia Hale and Melisa Ann Hebert, as well as 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband Joe Martin in 2013; son Joseph “Joey” Martin, II in 2015; brothers, Charles and Gerald Huffstickler and sisters, Ann Fahey and Alice Jean Brooks

Services are under the direction of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home and Crematory.  Condolences to the family may be sent on line at www.hdouglasfuneralhome.com.
